Does anyone have a comprehensive list of the fixed-width fonts?

On my computer, the only ones listed are Andale Mono, Courier, Courier New, and Monaco.

Many of them will have the word "mono" in their name.

That's one good way. Also check the web catalogs of reputable font dealers, like Adobe, Linotype, Monotype, etc. Sticking with the well known dealers ensures that you get a font with good behavior and hinting.

You can wander through the fonts for Linux distros which include many fixed width fonts.

Also most CJK fonts have fixed width Latin glyphs. Check all those strangely named "foreign" fonts on your system for fixed width. Unfortunately CJK fonts are known for *ugly* Latin characters, but you may find something you like.
